The Alimentar Colombia Foundation was established in July 2015 in response to the nutritional crisis of children in Colombia. Crisis that cost the lives of thousands of children in recent years and that reveals devastating figures: three children die daily of hunger in the country while the vast majority become astonishingly indifferent to this tragedy experienced by our children.
The Foundation was born in response to this situation, we work to reduce child malnutrition in a significant and sustainable way. We started our operation in 2015, which started as a simple response with markets to needy families has been consolidated in a nutritional recovery program, a community dining room and the creation of ALMA the first center of recovery of food in Colombia, the foundation is a pioneer in the rescue of excess cooked food from social events, schools, hotels, restaurants and companies, food suitable for consumption, the foundation has protocols, policies and procedures for the collection, storage, regeneration and delivery of food.
Thanks to working with love, dedication, passion, honesty and humility, the foundation and its director Catalina Perez have garnered several national recognitions, Catalina was chosen as Woman Cafam Bolivar 2019, her work has It has been highlighted in television programs such as Septimo Dia from Caracol T.V. and in different reports and news in written press and television.
To date, Fundación Alimentar Colombia has benefited more than 13,230 children, serving 637 children daily in its MANITO community kitchens, places where children receive a complete lunch, dessert and monthly nutritional assessment. to assess their nutritional status.
